Two stories in one. First is the story of Creed Howlett, making his way to the American colonies. Second is the story of Nick Arden and his wife Adrienne, who have inherited Creed's old house in the former Massachusetts Bay Colony. Nick and Adrienne experience a ghost in their new home, and that sets them on the trail of their earliest ancestor.
